New Russian 'Soyuz-5' Rocket Ready for Launch from Baikonur

Head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin announced that the new Russian Soyuz-5 launch vehicle has passed all tests and is fully ready for use. Launches will be carried out from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan as part of the joint 'Baiterek' project.

The launches will be carried out from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Dmitry Rogozin, head of the Russian space agency (Roscosmos), said on Saturday that the new Russian launch vehicle 'Soyuz-5' is currently undergoing its final tests and is 'fully ready' for use in space projects. Rogozin presented the details of the rocket to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the eve of the 65th anniversary of the first spaceflight, made by Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. Rogozin stated that Soyuz-5 will be the first new launch vehicle developed in Russia since 2014. Russian news agencies quoted Rogozin as saying: 'The new launch vehicle Soyuz-5 is fully ready'.
